Both pipes were said to be found on the Coosa River at presumably the same location.  As expected both pipes have noticeable amounts of dirt within the stem, bowl, and incisions.  This trait seems to be a common practice at promoting the authenticity of fake artifacts.  I am unable to determine if these pipes are authentic or reproductions.  All inquiries should be emailed or faxed to the NEBO Lab.  Dr. Muskrat will be taking a closer look at the pipes late next week.

Top pipe is the bird effigy pipe.  Measuring about 4-5 inches long.  Made of steatite.  Rather flat bottom side.  Human effigy pipe is also made of steatite.  Bottom is extremely flat.  Side of pipe shows significant wear from possible use.
